چکیده

Background Salivary gland biopsy plays an important role in the diagnosis of systemic diseases, especially Sjögren’s Syndrome. Minimally invasive has a low risk complications with respect to classical technique, without losing its diagnostic capacity. Objectives To assess utility and safety minimally technique patients suspected disease salivary involvement. Methods Retrospective analysis 31 minor biopsies performed by our Systemic Autoimmunity Disease Unit from November 1th 2020 2022, using technique. Antibody profile histopathological changes observed were recorded. Adverse events registered immediately after procedure at next medical visit. Results A total reviewed. Mean age was 60 years, most women (n=27, 87%). The success rate obtaining glandular tissue 94% (29/31). With immunological data, 24 had positive ANAs (77,4%), negative ENAs (77.4%) 21 Rheumatoid Factor (67.7%). In evaluation 52% normal (n=16), 23% focal lymphocytic sialadenitis (n=7), 16% nonspecific chronic (n=5), 6% (n=2) non-existent or insufficient sample 3% fatty infiltration (n=1). only complication transient superficial lip ecchymosis one patient (3,2%). Conclusion immunonegative sicca syndrome are diagnosed Sjögren´s Syndrome due This is simple tool which saves time until complications. Minimally Invasive Minor Salivary Gland Biopsy for the Diagnosis of Amyloidosis in a Rheumatology Clinic

Background. Systemic amyloidosis is a potentially fatal condition, unless diagnosed and treated before development of irreversible organ damage. Demonstration of amyloid deposits within tissue biopsies is only definitive diagnostic method, which makes appropriate selection of biopsy site essential. Herein, we evaluated efficacy of minimally invasive minor salivary gland biopsy (MSGB) for the di...

A Meta-analysis of the Diagnostic Value of Minor Salivary Gland Biopsy for Primary Sjogren’s Syndrome

Objective. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the diagnostic performance of minor salivary gland biopsy (MSGB) for patients with primary Sjogren’s syndrome (pSS). Methods. We have conducted a search from Medline, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases, and performed a meta-analysis on the diagnostic accuracy of MSGB in pSS patients. Results. A total of eight studies, including 583 pSS and...

A Convenient and Less Invasive Technique of Labial Minor Salivary Gland Biopsy Using a Minimal Incision With a Needle Tip

OBJECTIVES This study was to show the technique and to compare the usefulness and complications of biopsy using a minimal incision with a needle tip of the labial minor salivary glands with those of conventional incisional lip biopsy in the diagnosis of Sjögren's syndrome. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of the patients who had the labial minor salivary gland biopsy fo...

The minor salivary gland biopsy as a diagnostic tool for Sjogren syndrome.

OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS In suspected cases of Sjogren syndrome (SS), patients are often referred for a labial minor salivary gland biopsy. However, studies have shown this test to be unreliable. Pathologic misinterpretation and immunosuppressive medications may affect the results of the biopsy. As a result, it is best to perform this procedure only when necessary. The purpose of the current study...

Minor salivary gland biopsy in neonatal hemochromatosis.

BACKGROUND Neonatal hemochromatosis (NH), a rare disorder seen in newborns, is defined as liver failure with extrahepatic iron deposition that spares the reticuloendothelial elements. This disorder is considered the pathologic end point of a variety of diseases that result in prenatal liver failure, and mortality without aggressive treatment is common. However, ready diagnosis remains a problem...
